Child and Youth Care Practitioners promote growth in emotion regulation, peer relationships, and social emotional learning, through classroom programming and life space intervention.  Using relational care, they provide goal-directed, well-being support for groups and individuals to model and rehearse strategies for coping with stress and worries, peer mediation and restorative practices.  In collaboration with teachers, parents and other Support Services Personnel, they provide individual or group check-ins and provide ongoing support for students needing social emotional support.

Child and Youth Care Practitioners are assigned to schools in the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board in a variety of roles. They collaborate with teachers, parents, and others who lend support to students. Child and Youth Workers in Dufferin-Peel are certified through training at the college and/or university level.

Child and Youth Care Practitioners are committed to the mission of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board to foster the development of every student to their full potential.

If you would like your child to connect with the school’s Child and Youth Care Practitioner, please speak with the school principal.
